IACSEE's sixth international conference was held in July, 2005 in
Chicago, USA. The venue for the conference was the Union League Club, an historic body and building
located in the heart of the financial and business district. The programme covered the topic of
Global Citizenship: Challenges for Social and Economics Educators, and
provided a wide scope for participants to spread their ideas to an international audience. The
conference provided a unique opportunity to explore issues of relevance to young people who require
to become citizens who are both economically accomplished and able to contribute to the knowledge
society both locally and globally.
The Association extends its gratitude to the National Councils for Economics Education of both
Illinois and Wisconsin, as well as the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, for their help with the
conference.
